The TPSM8286xA device family includes 4A and 6A step-down converter power modules optimized for small solution size and high efficiency. The power module integrates a synchronous step-down converter and inductor to simplify design, reduce external components, and save PCB area. The device features a compact, low-profile package suitable for automated assembly using standard SMT equipment.
The DCS-Control topology delivers tight output voltage accuracy — even when paired with small output capacitors — along with excellent load transient performance. The converter operates in PWM mode under medium-to-heavy load conditions and automatically enters power-save mode at light loads, maintaining high efficiency across the full load current range. These devices can also be forced into PWM mode to achieve ultra-low output voltage ripple.
The device's EN and PG pins support sequencing configurations, enabling flexible system design. The integrated soft-start function reduces the inrush current demand on the input power supply. Thermal shutdown and hiccup short-circuit protection make the solution robust and reliable.
