The TPS763xx series low-dropout (LDO) regulators offer low dropout voltage, low-power operation, and a compact package. Compared to conventional LDO regulators, these devices feature lower dropout voltage and lower quiescent current. The TPS763xx series devices are available in a 5-pin SOT-23 small-outline integrated circuit package, making them ideal for cost-sensitive designs and applications where board space is a priority.

By combining innovative circuit design with process advancements, a PMOS pass element replaces the conventional PNP pass transistor. Because the PMOS pass element operates as a low-value resistor, it achieves a low dropout voltage (typically 300mV at 150mA load current for TPS76333) that is proportional to load current. Because the PMOS pass element is a voltage-driven device, its quiescent current is low (140μA maximum) and remains stable across the full output load current range (0mA to 150mA).

Designed for portable systems such as laptops and mobile phones, the device's low dropout voltage and low-power operation significantly extend system battery life.

The TPS763xx also supports logic-controlled sleep mode to shut down the regulator, reducing quiescent current to a maximum of 1μA at TJ = 25°C. The TPS763xx is available in fixed output voltage versions of 1.6V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 2.7V, 2.8V, 3V, 3.3V, 3.8V, and 5V, as well as an adjustable version programmable from 1.5V to 6.5V.
