Product Introduction
TPS55340-EP is a monolithic asynchronous switching regulator with an integrated 5A/40V power switch. This device can be configured in a variety of standard switching regulator topologies, including boost, SEPIC, and isolated flyback. The wide input voltage range supports applications powered from multiple battery cells or regulated 3.3V, 5V, 12V, and 24V supply rails. The TPS55340-EP uses current-mode PWM control to regulate the output voltage and features an internal oscillator. The PWM switching frequency is set by an external resistor or synchronized to an external clock signal. Users can program the switching frequency between 100kHz and 1.2MHz. The device offers programmable soft-start to limit inrush current during startup, along with additional built-in protection features including cycle-by-cycle overcurrent limiting and thermal shutdown. The 5A 40V TPS55340-EP boost converter is pin-to-pin compatible with the 3A 40V TPS61175, extending the maximum input voltage range from 18V to 32V.
