Product Introduction
The SLM1302 trickle charge timekeeping chip incorporates a real-time clock/calendar and 31 bytes of static RAM (SRAM). It communicates with a microprocessor via a simple serial interface. The real-time clock/calendar provides seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year information. End-of-month dates are automatically adjusted for months with fewer than 31 days, including leap year correction. The clock can operate in either 24-hour or 12-hour format with an AM/PM indicator.
By using synchronous serial communication, the interface between the SLM1302 and the microprocessor is simplified. Only three wires are required for clock/RAM communication: (1) RST (Reset), (2) I/O (Data Line), and (3) SCLK (Serial Clock).
