Product Introduction
The LM74502/LM74502H controllers work in conjunction with externally back-to-back connected N-channel MOSFETs to provide a solution for low-loss reverse polarity protection and load disconnection. The device can also be configured as a load switch with overvoltage protection to drive high-side MOSFETs. The wide supply input range of 3.2V to 65V enables control of many commonly used DC bus voltages (e.g., 12V, 24V, and 48V input systems). The device can withstand and protect the load from negative supply voltages as low as -65V. The LM74502/LM74502H does not have reverse current blocking functionality and is only suitable for input reverse polarity protection.
The LM74502 controller provides a charge pump gate drive for external N-channel MOSFETs. When the enable pin is low, the controller turns off and consumes approximately 1μA of current, thus providing low system current when entering sleep mode. The LM74502 and LM74502H also feature programmable overvoltage and undervoltage protection, which can disconnect the load from the input source in the event of a fault. These devices are available in a 2.9mm × 1.6mm 8-pin DDF package and are rated for an operating temperature range of – 40°C to +125°C.
