Product Introduction
The DRV8860 is an 8-channel low-side driver with overcurrent protection and open/short-load detection. It features built-in clamp diodes to suppress turn-off transients generated by inductive loads, and can be used to drive unipolar stepper motors, DC motors, relays, solenoids, or other loads.
The DRV8860PWP provides up to 330mA (all 8 channels on) continuous output current, while the DRV8860PW provides up to 200mA (all 8 channels on) continuous output current. This current drive capability increases as the PWM duty cycle decreases. With a single channel on, up to 560mA continuous output current can be driven.
A serial interface is provided to control the DRV8860 output drivers, configure internal setting registers, and read the fault status of each channel. Multiple DRV8860 devices can be daisy-chained together to share a single serial interface. Power-on time and hold PWM duty cycle can also be configured via the serial interface. These features enable lower operating temperatures compared to traditional always-on solutions.
Internal shutdown functions are also provided for overcurrent protection, short-circuit protection, UVLO, and overtemperature protection. The DRV8860 can diagnose open-load conditions. Fault information for each channel can be read via the serial interface and is indicated by an external fault pin.
