The DAC7750 and DAC8750 are low-cost, high-precision, fully integrated 12-bit and 16-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) designed to meet the requirements of industrial process control applications. These devices can be programmed to provide current outputs ranging from 4mA to 20mA, 0mA to 20mA, or 0mA to 24mA. The DAC7750 and DAC8750 include robust features such as CRC error checking for Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) data frames, a watchdog timer, an open-circuit, compliance voltage, and overheat alarm. Additionally, the output current can be monitored by accessing an internal high-precision resistor. These devices include a power-on reset function to ensure the device powers up in a known state (IOUT is disabled and in a high-impedance (Hi-Z) state). If the output is enabled, the CLR terminal sets the current output at the lower end of the range. The zero and gain registers are programmed to digitally calibrate the device within the end system. The output slew rate is also set by a register. These devices can add an external HART signal to the current output and can be powered by a 10V to 36V supply. All versions are available in a 40-pin VQFN package and a 24-pin Thin Shrink Small Outline Package (TSSOP).
